Ø Imjingak Park
Imjingak tourist sites are the place where the Korean war
was broke out on 25 June 1950 and one race has been opposed to each other.
There are diverse monuments in this place; a war record monument of Imjingak
district, a monument of America’s entry into the war, a memorial tower of 17
diplomatic mission died by North Korean’s bomb terror in Myanmar in 1983, and a
monument for people in Kimpo Airport bomb accident in 1987. Train used to
travel to Sinuiju, where is located in the north end of the country, before the
partition of the Korean Peninsula.
Ø The 3rd Tunnel
Only 44 kilometers or, less than an hour's drive, from Seoul, the third
tunnel was discovered in October 1978. Almost identical in structure to Tunnel II,
the 1.635 kilometer-long tunnel, 1.95 meters high and 2.1 meters wide,
penetrates 435 meters south of the Military Demarcation Line at a point only 4
kilometers south of the Truce Village of Panmunjom. It runs through bedrock at
a depth of about 73 meters below ground. Capable of moving a full division per
hour, plus their weapons, it is evidently designed for a surprise attack on
Seoul.
Ø Dora
Observatory
It is the northernmost observatory of South Korea from which visitors
can view a part of North Korean life through a telescope, such as Mt. Songaksan
in Gaeseong, Kim II-seong statue, Gijeong-dong, the outskirts of Gaeseong-si,
Train smokestack at Jangdan station, and Geumamgol (collective farm). This has
304 sq. ft. and some facilities; 500 capacity, VIP Room, control office, 30 to
40 capacity parking lot. It opened to the public in Jan. 1987 From Dora
Observatory, tourists can view the North Korean propaganda village in the DMZ
and as far north as the city of Gaeseong.
Ø Dorasan Station
52 years of
anticipation, waiting for the day when the two countries will be united once
again. Dorasan station, the northernmost station in South Korea, has planned to
connect the Gyongueisun(Line) and it will be linked to the European continent
via the Siberian Railway.

Ø Panmunjeom
Panmunjeom is located about 60 km northwest of
Seoul along with “United Nation Command Military Armistice Commission”(here
after “UNCMAC”) office. Originally, the area used to be called “Neolmunlee”.
However, the area was designated as a new location for armistice(cease-fire)
talk in October, 1951 and the name of the area was written in Chinese as
Panmunjeom for the convenient of Chinese representatives. Ever since then, the
name of area has stayed as Panmunjeom. *Advance Camp “In front of them all” in
DMZ, this camp house an United Nations Command Support Group, and this is where
you have lunch, buy souvenirs, and official briefing on JSA. *Joint Security
Area When an important meeting is being held, this area is crowded by guards
and newsmen. After the “tree chopping incident” it was agreed to separate the
sentries and spilt this area in half. *Conference Room Take note of the
Military Demarcation Line running down the middle of the conference table.
Military Armistice Commission Meeting have been held here. *Freedom House Built
in 1965, it commands a fine view of the whole area of Panmunjeom. *Bridge of no
Return A UNC check point faces a north Korean one across the bridge. Close by
the bridge is the stump of the tree chopping incident in 1976.
